Because they would be killed soon ANYWAY, that’s what livestock is for- raised in inhumane conditions, and trucked in a jammed truck across the country to be brutally slaughtered for the dinner plate on a per pound valuation.

****** I have never seen so much BS in my life as what is on these two blogs. Comins, you had better be glad that Hoochie and Raley were not my Huskies. I would have holstered your gun were it would have had to be surgically removed even if they were not. I have owned Huskies for 25 years and currently have 16, most of them rescues. Their prey drive is for SMALL animals not cattle or people. Even your examples of attacks on humans all identify breeds other than Huskies. All these blogs, are is a lame attempt to justify YOUR stupidity and cruelty not to mention poor eyesight and marksmanship. The video shows it all. I just wish I could sit on the jury. I am sure that this comment will be deleted by you or your “moderator” prior to publication but it will appear elsewhere. And isn’t it funny how the all comments here are all in support of your stupidity and sound as if they were written by the same person or couple of people. ********

Now before anyone jump me, and claims that I haven’t read both sides of the argument, are wrong. I’ve read BOTH blog logs on Christopher’s blog and this one. Comments included. (Not that Christopher’s has any.) The way I see it is, yes, the owner of the dogs should have done something to keep his dogs in his yard and under supervision. And I do not condone the fact that he lets them run loose and wait for others to bring him his animals. Whenever one of my dogs (4 purebred, pack raised Siberian huskies, mind you) get loose, I’m the first person out in the neighborhood searching for them. One must understand that even the most well built fence, it only takes one determined dog to get out. And yes, the breed loves to run. BECAUSE THEY WERE BRED FOR IT. Ask any owner of the breed, and most will tell you that they have had a Houndi break-out of their own and had to chase down their dog. It happens to every dog owner. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. And yes, these dogs have been known to run, that problem lies in the owner. But that does NOT give someone the right to shoot them in cold blood just because they were on someone property. That’s like shooting teenagers who are vandalizing your house/car things like that. Those children are your responsibility, and should be kept under a watchful eye. But even so, does that give me a right to shoot them because they were doing something they shouldn’t? No. and if I did, I’d have been arrested and locked away long before this charges were ever pressed.

If Christopher had just shot into the air, he could have scared the dogs off. ANY animal, wild or domestic would take off at a loud bang like that. There was no need to continue to shoot at them to get rid of them, unless he was aiming to kill. Not to mention, the lame excuse of him not knowing they were domestic dogs. You can CLEARLY see the collars and tags on the dogs from the video, which is WAY farther away from them then he was. HOW COULD SOMEONE MISS THAT. Then to top it off, as he continues to coldly shoot the dogs, when the owner runs up BEGGING? That’s just cruel. He ment to shoot and kill them. Not question about it. Even AFTER he found out they belonged to someone. And the fact that after demobilizing one, he then shoot at it more is just sick. This man has issues and they need to be dealt with.

For all of those out there that claim the dogs were attacking the livestock. Where is the owner stepping up saying that they lost any calves (Not to mention, the cows weren’t even standing in a defensive circle. So even if the video doesn’t capture the WHOLE incident with the dogs on the property, they would still be protecting their young up until the last minute. NOT ignoring the ‘predators’ as they were in the video. Even so, no damage to the livestock is ever mentioned. At all. Two dogs, if the intent was to kill, could have seriously maimed many of those cows in the ‘four’ hours they were claimed to have been near them.

It’s a sad sad thing what happened to those loved animals. Yes, the owner needs to get better measures of keeping his animals confined, but Christopher needs to face judgment for his CRIMES.

For all of you claiming that the video depicts no crimes, I wish for you to see your beloved animals shot REPEATEDLY in front of you, and I want you to tell me to your face that the man/woman who did it did not commit a crime. I feel horrible wishing more pain inflicted to other innocent animals, but it seems that most people will only learn from experience.

Best wishes to Hoochie and Raley on their swift recovery, and to hope that they can retain a somewhat satisfactory life from this tragic incident. As for Christopher, even if you worm your way out of these charges, you god will certainly punish you. I just hope that no other animals, or children for that matter, have to suffer such things like this before it happens.

The breeds aggressiveness aside, ANY dog that courses livestock or feral animals, unless it does it because it has been trained to do it under human supervision in a controlled situation, has gone over to the dark side and is asking to be destroyed. It is a behavior that is not acceptable because it can lead to aggressiveness towards humans. Hierarchy is paramount to a dog, you may think a dog loves you, and in a way they do… but what they truly do is respect and acknowledge that you are above them in the pack. That instinct, to get ahead, never goes away during a dogs lifetime. When they are allowed to hunt unsupervised, and that is exactly what a dog does when they are out on a run, they are becoming less and less controllable.

It has become more and more common for people to anthropomorphize their animals but you have to remember that the animals brain does not work the way a humans does.

The animal cruelty charges against this man are a result of pressure from people who don’t really know what they are talking about. It is yet another instance of uninformed knee jerk outrage outweighing reality.
