NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) – An event dedicated to non-violence became the scene of a violent crime in New Bedford Tuesday night. The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police chased down the perpetrator, Monzes Gonzales, who was arraigned this morning.
The event was sponsored by National Association of Town Watch (NATW), a not-for-profit organization “dedicated to the development and promotion of organized, law enforcement-affiliated crime and drug prevention programs.”

National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive, and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation.
